Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson is facing a potential setback as he risks missing Euro 2024 due to an injury sustained during a training session with the Scotland national team.

The injury concern has heightened for Scotland ahead of Euro 2024. Recently, their captain Andrew Robertson had to leave the training ground early in their first session in Germany, raising fears that he might miss the upcoming crucial tournament.

The 30-year-old defender has been integral to Scotland‘s recent success. He is seen as a key player in helping Steve Clarke’s team make a deep run in Euro 2024, following their impressive qualification campaign. Therefore, news of the Liverpool player’s injury has caused significant concern within the team and among Scotland’s supporters.

According to media sources, the incident occurred just hours after Scotland arrived in Germany to prepare for their opening match against the hosts on June 15th. During a warm-up drill, Robertson unexpectedly picked up an injury and had to leave the field immediately, assisted by the medical team. While some suggested it was a minor test of the 30-year-old’s fitness, subsequent developments have given rise to genuine worries.

Although Robertson appeared relatively comfortable as he left the training ground, his inability to continue training with his teammates quickly signaled a concerning issue. His crucial left-back position for Scotland was handed over to Aidan McIlduff, a backup player called up for this training camp.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Robertson has encountered injury issues while playing for the national team. At the beginning of the 2022/23 season, Robertson underwent shoulder surgery following a collision that sidelined him for over three months. In March 2023, an ankle injury during a friendly against Northern Ireland also forced Robertson to miss a critical phase of Liverpool’s campaign.

The Scottish coaching staff has remained silent with no official updates on Robertson’s injury status. However, according to available information, he is still expected to be fit for Euro 2024.

“We hope Robertson has only sustained a minor injury and will recover in time for Euro 2024. He is an indispensable part of our play. Losing Robertson would undoubtedly be a huge blow, but the most important thing now is to await the precise medical assessment results,” a source from the Scotland coaching staff stated.

Previously, in last week’s friendly against Finland, Robertson played 63 minutes as Scotland’s captain. He is one of coach Steve Clarke’s most crucial players for their special journey at Euro 2024 in Germany.
