Belgium’s national team has announced its squad for Euro 2024, and this could be the Belgium’s strongest lineup as chosen by us.

Belgium’s highly acclaimed “Golden Generation” has yet to secure a major title. Now, under coach Domenico Tedesco, they are preparing for the tournament in Germany, having excluded some established names who had previously showcased their talent.

However, this doesn’t mean Belgium lacks quality and experience at Euro 2024, with players like Kevin De Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen, and Romelu Lukaku still being key figures to watch.

Goalkeeper

Following the exclusion of Thibaut Courtois due to conflicts with coach Domenico Tedesco, Koen Casteels of Wolfsburg will likely be Belgium’s choice in goal.

Defenders

Jan Vertonghen, the most capped player for Belgium, continues to perform well at 36 years old and will certainly participate in the tournament in Germany. However, his long-time defensive partner Toby Alderweireld has not been called up. Recently, Wout Faes of Leicester seems poised to partner with Vertonghen in central defense.

Midfielders

Belgium’s midfield is highly rated with extremely talented players. Kevin De Bruyne continues to demonstrate his class with Manchester City, while Youri Tielemans offers comprehensive midfield capabilities. The defensive midfield position will likely be filled by Onana, who has been impressive for Everton.

Forwards

Romelu Lukaku remains Belgium’s top striker for this tournament, with his match experience and current form this season making him almost certain to start.

The wings of Belgium’s team also boast quality, with Doku and Trossard—two of the best wingers in the English Premier League at present.

This lineup suggests Belgium’s determination to excel at Euro 2024, aiming to compensate for their disappointing performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they were eliminated in the group stage by supposedly weaker opponents such as Croatia, Morocco, and Canada.
