The German national team receives sad news from Toni Kroos.
2 min readRecently, midfielder Toni Kroos revealed that he had to use painkillers to be able to compete in EURO 2024.
In a recent interview with German media on June 18, the former Real Madrid star disclosed that he had to resort to painkillers to participate in this EURO tournament.
“I don’t like using muscle tape. However, the pain appeared during training and worsened, forcing me to resort to painkillers. Truly, painkillers provide about 98% effectiveness, whereas muscle tape only helps about 2%. It’s the painkillers and the treatment process that have helped me avoid difficulties during matches,” shared Toni Kroos.
“Nothing’s wrong and everything is progressing well. I’m satisfied with my performance, especially considering what I’ve been through,” Kroos added.
Kroos had previously retired from the German national team but decided to return in March to participate in EURO 2024, his final tournament in his career.
In their recent opening match at EURO 2024, midfielder Toni Kroos delivered a remarkably impressive performance with 101 accurate passes out of 102 attempts, achieving a 99% pass accuracy rate. This is the highest pass accuracy rate at the Euros since statistics began in 1980.
Germany had an impressive start at EURO 2024, defeating Scotland 5-1 in Group A. Young stars like Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala shone brightly, making their mark on the score sheet. It was Germany’s most emphatic victory in a Euro opening match and their largest since the 7-1 demolition of Brazil in the 2014 World Cup semifinals.
