Real Madrid Adopts ‘Ronaldo Method’ in Training
2 min readIt has been six years since Cristiano Ronaldo left to seek a new challenge, but he remains one of the most influential figures at Real Madrid.
Since joining the Spanish club from Manchester United in 2009 for what was then a world-record fee of £80 million, Ronaldo became the all-time top scorer for Los Blancos with 438 goals in 450 appearances.
Ronaldo’s statistics are certainly historical, but his professionalism and relentless dedication continue to set the standard at Valdebebas, especially for the younger generation.
In fact, Spanish magazine AS reports that current Real Madrid players are adopting the ‘Cristiano Method’ to enhance everything from nutrition to professionalism in training.
“Since Ronaldo arrived in the summer of 2009, he has created a cultural shift beyond the scope of sports,” AS noted.
According to the report, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Güler, and Endrick are considered to have grown up admiring Ronaldo, and the influence of the Portuguese legend has been evident in recent weeks.
Instead of relaxing this summer, these players have been training diligently during their break, applying the so-called ‘Cristiano Method’ to avoid losing fitness before the 2024/25 season.
The legacy Ronaldo left is evident from the first-team players to the substitutes. AS added, “The less frequently used players under Carlo Ancelotti have a mentality of always being ready when the situation demands.”
Perhaps the most significant sign of Ronaldo’s ongoing influence is the acknowledgment by new signing Endrick during his presentation:
“I never intended it, but I have loved Real Madrid since I was young. I watched Cristiano Ronaldo, and because of him, I wanted to learn more about Real Madrid,” the Brazilian forward shared.
Speaking to A Bola about Ronaldo’s impact, Endrick said, “He is my biggest idol, a player who has broken all records by becoming a model star and dedicated professional.”
“He is not just an athlete, but someone everyone should look up to, because at all times, Ronaldo has wanted to be the best, he wants to win titles, Ronaldo wants to achieve milestones, while also being humble.”
