Ahead of the FA Cup final, Bruno Fernandes admitted that Manchester United did not meet the expected standards, finishing only 8th in the Premier League 2023/24 season.

The future of Bruno Fernandes remains uncertain, with Manchester United willing to listen to offers for any player, ahead of a major overhaul led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Red Devils’ captain has affirmed his desire to stay at the club but hinted that if Manchester United cannot meet his ambitions, there might be a departure this summer.

In a letter addressed to the fans, Fernandes stated: “I love stepping onto the Old Trafford pitch more than anything else in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.”

“I just want my expectations to match the club’s expectations. If you talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete in every competition. We want to play in the Champions League. We want to be in cup finals. That’s the standard. That’s what I want. That’s what all of you deserve. I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here.”

Fernandes admits that Manchester United’s players owe loyal fans worldwide a trophy, and the team will strive to defeat their city rivals in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

“I want to say a few words from the heart before this FA Cup final,” Fernandes told The Players’ Tribune. “I know it hasn’t been an easy season for you guys.”

“We haven’t met the standards we should have. The team hasn’t always lived up to the expectations you’ve had for us. As captain, I understand that more than anyone, and that’s a responsibility I take as a given.”

“After this challenging season, my responsibility is to give even more. It starts with me. And it starts tomorrow. We have to give everything in the final match against Man City, and we have to move forward.”

The FA Cup 2024 final between Man City and Man Utd will take place on Saturday, May 25th.
