Spain’s Coach Wishes He Could Restrain Kroos If Allowed
2 min readIn the EURO 2024 quarter-final, Spain will face Germany at 5:00 PM on July 5. This match is considered a “premature final” of the tournament. Before this crucial clash, Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, has singled out Toni Kroos as a key player his team needs to be wary of.
De La Fuente has come up with a somewhat extreme but humorous way to deal with Kroos, jokingly asking if UEFA might allow him to physically restrain the German midfielder:
“Toni Kroos is a world-class player. In football, greatness is forever. He is truly magnificent. We all know that Kroos has exceptional talent, qualities, and charisma. He brings a lot of confidence to the German national team this year. It’s a shame he is retiring soon because I would still like to see him play.
Before the upcoming match, we even thought about tying Toni Kroos up, but I’m not sure if UEFA would allow that. We understand exactly what Kroos can bring to the game. He has a comprehensive passing ability with impressive statistics. We will try to prevent him from getting the ball comfortably and limit his options. Let’s see if I can appeal to UEFA to let us restrain Toni Kroos in the next game!” De La Fuente’s comments brought laughter and a relaxed atmosphere to the press conference with his humorous remarks.
Regarding the upcoming match, De La Fuente also commented:
“In the recent matches at EURO 2024, Germany has always started strongly. We will try to respond in kind, but we need to do even better. Spain will be playing against a team with a similar style of play. The team that makes fewer mistakes will have a great chance to win.
Germany has young, talented players like Musiala and Wirtz. However, we can see that there are still other individuals in the German team who are even more outstanding than these two. Musiala, Wirtz, Yamal, and Nico Williams are four of the most talented young players in the world, but they will have to rely on the collective strength of the team. These individuals only shine within a strong team.”
