Police confirm Real Madrid staff member accused of assault following altercation with Wembley Stadium employee at Champions League final.

The incident occurred after the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a member of Real Madrid’s security staff is accused of attacking a stadium employee at Wembley.

It is reported that Metropolitan Police made 56 arrests around the Champions League final at Wembley, mostly for attempted breaches of security – including 5 arrests of individuals who entered the pitch.

There is also information that a Real Madrid staff member was arrested following Los Blancos’ 2-0 victory. A 52-year-old woman was reportedly present to assist Real Madrid’s security operations. According to The Athletic, she got into a scuffle with stadium staff when they refused entry to some family members of Real Madrid players onto the Wembley pitch for celebrations.

The individual involved was detained for several hours before being released pending further investigation. The Real Madrid staff member is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 18. It is understood that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has offered legal support to the security staff member before her court appearance.

This incident is seen as a minor blemish in the joy of Real Madrid’s club-wide celebration of their 15th Champions League title win, once again proving the greatness of the Spanish royal club on the European cup stage.

Real Madrid players will now have a short break before continuing their pursuit of trophies with their national teams at Euro 2024 and Copa America this summer.
