Jim Ratcliffe has declined to endorse Coach Erik ten Hag following Manchester United’s FA Cup victory, leaving Ten Hag’s future still uncertain.

On the evening of May 25th, Manchester United defeated Manchester City at Wembley Stadium to clinch the FA Cup title for the first time since 2016. Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo secured a thrilling 2-1 victory for the Red Devils.

Notably, minority owner of Man United, Jim Ratcliffe, was present in the stands to witness the match and was later spotted passing through the mixed media zone post-match.

However, the British billionaire did not express support for Coach Ten Hag when asked about the Dutch strategist’s future. As Ratcliffe walked through the media area alongside INEOS Sports Director Dave Brailsford, a reporter inquired, “Will Erik Ten Hag stay?”

Jim Ratcliffe turned back to acknowledge the media members but did not respond to the question. He then turned away and continued walking out of the room.

Ten Hag’s future has been under scrutiny in recent weeks following a disappointing second season at Old Trafford. Manchester United’s 8th-place finish in the Premier League is their lowest since 1990.

When asked before the final whether the speculation about his future affected preparations for the FA Cup final, Ten Hag said:

“No. I’m focused on the match and the team. I don’t talk about my future. It’s not about me, it’s about the team and winning the cup.”

The Dutch coach has secured European qualification for United next season, as winning the FA Cup automatically earns them a spot in the Europa League.

In return, Chelsea has been relegated to the Conference League, while Newcastle misses out on European competition altogether.

Ten Hag has now claimed his second trophy since joining Manchester United, following last year’s Carabao Cup triumph.
